Community Wellbeing programs
Emergency shelter
This project consists of the construction of two temporary shelter houses, a community kitchen and a laundry area, all within a secure property in the heart of Matapalo. The vision for these homes is to serve as a breath of fresh air for families living in crisis and homelessness: an unexpected economic crisis, an accident, a sudden illness, or victims of a natural disaster or fire. The houses will serve as temporary accommodation for families while they find a permanent housing solution.
EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
According to the Center on the Developing Child at Harvard University, healthy development in the early years provides the building blocks for educational achievement, economic productivity, responsible citizenship, lifelong health, and strong communities.
Early Childhood Program seeks to provide supporting services for healthy development of children and families who would not otherwise have access to these services, through:
- Baby Bank (Nutritional formulas and diapers)
- Early Stimulation Therapies
Food Relief Program
In response to the COVID-19 crisis, Futuro Brillante launched its Emergency Food Assistance Program in March 2019. We continue to support local families who have been severely affected, with food packages that include essential items, vegetables, cleaning products and others.
ECOLOGYCAL GARDEN
In 2017, we launched an ambitious and innovative project to develop a community garden in Matapalo. The garden has evolved in many ways over the years, but its main objectives remain consistent: to provide fresh, affordable produce to local families and to serve as an educational platform to teach the local community about the important role of healthy food and sustainable agricultural practices.
COMMUNITY COLLABORATION
Clothing & Household Item Donations
Futuro Brillante gladly accepts donations of clean and gently used clothing, toys, and household items for our Garage Sale project. All proceeds benefit community projects.
