School field trips have become a regular part of activities at the garden. Field trips start out with a tour where the children are introduced to all of the plants, the hydroponic beds, the germination room, and the worm compost. Then the children participate in an activity, such as making compost, mixing organic insect repellent, planting seeds, or painting recycled bottles to use as planters. We teach the children about our different natural techniques, encouraging them to try to replicate some of those same methods at their homes or schools.
In 2018, we had visitors from the first, fourth and fifth grade classes at La Paz School. We also had groups from the Matapalo Elementary school and CEN, as well as as first and second graders from Costa Rica International Academy (CRIA).
